Joanna and Brad are long term friends and colleagues and are delighted to be offering the first Awakening Together Camp at the beautiful Holy Brook Meadows this coming August 5th-10th.
Our invitation is to come together to embrace this “one wild and precious life”.
Camping in the beautifully secluded valley of Holy Brook Meadows, we will co-create a small village. Surrounded by ancient woodland and the stream, we will be supported to remember that we too are part of nature, not separate but already intimately connected with all beings, as Life itself.
Through the simple and powerful practices of enquiry, meditation, bodywork, deep listening, Qigong, free movement and heart dialogue we will cultivate our sense of Presence, so that this becomes the familiar ground from which we relate to each moment. This is individual and relational practice, with ourselves, with each other and with our environment.
Resting back in Presence we will relax into and celebrate the simplicity of camp life together as we cook, clean, sing, dance, breathe, move, relate, walk, swim, sit around the fire, gaze at the stars and eat delicious vegetarian food.
All ages and experience welcome. There will be times when our children’s team will be offering a diverse range of activities for over the 3’s, influenced by Parenting by Connection.
Our ‘village’ of 80 people has a fully equipped field kitchen, several large carpeted yurts for group work, a marque for eating and meetings, a children’s area with 3 carpeted geodesic domes, a wood fired sauna and a village green with a central fire. The gorgeous River Dart is just 7 minutes walk through magical woods where there are many areas to swim and paddle.
Over many years of offering camps at Holy Brook Meadows we have learnt, by much trial and error, which ingredients help create a healthy culture of being together as a small community. These include being in a small group of up to 8 adults, helping to cook and maintain the site, as well as having small group meetings to check in and support each other. Also every day we come together as a whole camp to connect, give space for village news and announcements and celebrate being together.
Cost £275 adults, Children £150. Limited to 40 adults, 20 children and a team of up to 20 experienced managers and volunteers.
Location Holy Brook Meadows, Southern edge of Dartmoor, Devon. You will need to bring your own tent and sleeping gear.
