To help us care for the ecology of Holy Brook Meadows we ask that you give some consideration to the products you bring with you into the field. Are they safe for life in the stream, on land and in the air? Are they safe for the soil? Are there alternatives to plastic containers/wrappings? Do you need them?
Choosing can be something of a minefield and we don’t claim to know the best answers. You may already be fully on top of this in your life. Equally you may be floundering and not knowing what’s best or it may not even be on your radar.
To help you get started in your choices here are a few links to sources that appear to offer environmentally responsible products. If there are others you know of, please let us know and we would be happy to compile a resource list. For now, here’s somewhere to start:

For stream-safe suncreams made by Green People click here

Please give this the attention it merits, for the sake of our beautiful and only planet.
Ticks
Over the past decade, due in part to a warming climate, there has been a spread of ticks throughout the UK. A small percentage of these carry Lyme Disease. Ticks may be present in the field and neighbouring woodland as well as on the moors.
Please take some time to inform yourself about ticks before you come by visiting the Lyme Disease Action website
We keep tick removal tools in our First Aid kit but you might like to bring your own too. We also recommend bringing tea tree oil to apply in the event of a bite.
