Insight Meditation and Qigong: Embodying the Dharma

In this retreat, through the complementary practices of Insight Meditation and Qigong, we will cultivate a sustained and gentle attentiveness to the movement and stillness of the mind and body. Through this cultivation we can access a spaciousness which allows the healing and intelligent wisdom of our true nature to shine through. In this environment the entanglements that bind our heart, mind and body can soften and open up. The Qigong practice explores simple standing and moving exercises suitable for all levels of experience and health.

Qigong Walking Holiday
Gidleigh, near Chagford,
North Dartmoor
May 23-26th

The holiday is at Gidleight Village hall on north Dartmoor with walks to some amazing open moor and Scorhill stone circle. Accommodation is camping with use of the hall complete with kitchen, showers and loos. We can have an open fire outside. The days will be a mixture of morning practice at the hall and afternoon walks, probably with picnic lunch, with Qigong at the stone circle and Qigong walks across the moors, woodland and tors. Start time is Friday supper with arrivals during the afternoon from 2pm and end time is Monday after lunch.

Settling into a spacious awareness of the present moment we can begin to allow the busyness of daily life to fall away and rest gently in the simple moment to moment experience of what is. Through the sitting practice of Insight Meditation and the standing and moving meditations of Qigong (which are suitable for all levels of experience) a steady mindfulness is cultivated, allowing insight into our true nature to effortlessly arise, leading to a more wise and compassionate relationship with ourselves and the world. This is a silent retreat with alternating periods of sitting meditation and Qigong practice.
